I would not paint those lovely chairs. Instead, consider getting the seats recovered with a fabric that gives some contrast. If you like the wall color, consider that for the chair seats. I also find the wall with the shutters very busy and suggest that you remove both the mirror and the painting to see if that looks better to you. A simpler chandelier would also help.

Pretty room.... I would only change chandelier and for softness hang drapes on either side of shutters.

How about refinishing your dining table and chairs to a natural wood colour and buying 2 host chairs? Flat or matte polyurethane leaves the least shiny coating and conveys the look of natural, unfinished wood. It would bring you dining set to 2022!

Another idea is to keep you set as is, get 2 host chairs as above, and have slipcovers made for your chairs. My favorite is still the above but here are some ideas:

You can get inexpensive (but quite a good quality for the price) host chairs at Ikea. You'll need to assemble but it's easy and the slipcovers stay on nicely and are washable.
