Google “modern valance”…lots of nice options at affordable prices.

Im not so sure on the color though, dark or light?

Should it match the familyroom curtains in color?

Should i use the exact same color as the curtain panels?

I would go with a roman shade so you can lose the venetian blinds--hate them with a passion. Soo impossible to clean! Yes the color of the dining and living room window treatments should have some reference to each other. I would go for something with pattern in your eating area so it doesn't look like you tried to match and missed.

Yes…same fabric and color

Can you suggest the type of pattern , i dont want it looking to loud, just subtle, thank you!

How about just using wood roman shades?

A subtle vine pattern in muted sage or grey on ivory could be lovely.

I want to keep the blinds that r there i just want to dress the top part of the window with a roman blind

Something like this would work.

Another vote here for roman shades. Probably isn't going to be inexpensive though.
