So, based on my assumption that everyone will post pictures of Orange Marmalade early in the spring (when it looks best), here is a compare/contrast picture of what it looks like well into the late summer. I do like how it continues putting out new leaves from the center all season, so there is some orange there in August.

Saija, your Olympic Gold Medal is interesting (and timely). What season was the photo taken? The blue to yellow coloration is more dispersed than i would expect if the sun were the only factor affecting it. Neat.

This foto is 15 th of June and there is not so much yellow. And weeds for Newhostalady, LOL.

There are already some really nice OM shown but Shadow yours is one happy specimen.

Old Glory. I wish I had been able to find a spot for it. Technically I could have crammed it in then moved it.

Orange Marmalade put on good growth but looks ratty.

Oze needs to be moved. It gets too much sun and I used the Lobelia to shade it somewhat.

Two do Oh My Heart Justice, you have to see it in the HL. This was planted in August. The reason I bought this one is it has the most amazing flower head which I probably won’t see for a few years.

October Sky is a really nice blue

Debra- One last Dance was an online purchase from Hosta Choice Gardens. I only received late in the summer and was very pleased with what they sent. I am very anxious to see it mature. It will be one next year that I take several pics throughout the season. My Gold Std is on the top left of the Orange Marmalade foto. Mine does not get white but does get very yellow near the end of the season,

As Mosswood stated, I do love that OM sets out nice new leaves all season long. At one point , you have white, yellow and orange centers all at the same time. It is one of my favs.

Beth- I do admire your On Stage.....I like the bright center and I am sure that it would look good in any garden.

Peren- Old Glory has captured my interest. On my....me like a lot!

I agree with Mosswood, I think it's equally stunning late.. pushing up the new growth from the center to contrast with the old.

Saija - you really captured Olympic Gold Medal. Such an unusual Hosta. Here's mine on July 8th. Not as much yellow yet. Must need more sun which it will get this year thanks to some tree pruning.

Obscene Gesture is a slow grower for me in this spot. Unlike many other Striptease sports, it maintains this color throughout the season.

Obsession took a step backward last year after being planted in 2020. The leaves are more narrow this year.

While Ogon Tsushima stayed the same in similar circumstances.

One Last Dance (on the left) is the older brother (3 years) of First Dance. Both sports of Dancing Queen; on May 12th.

Olive Bailey Langdon - one of my first purchases in 2016 which struggled in the Maple root desert. I transplanted it into a spinout bag the following year that the Maple roots found anyway (through the seam). I rescued a tiny part in 2019 into a pot and finally starting to get bigger and planted into the ground last year. 4th time the charm (hopefully?).

I must look at Ooh La La or Olympic Sunrise again. I must be strong.
Orange Marmalade for first 3. The first one is from Naylor, and the second two are of an OM I bought directly from Bob Solberg. He explained that he was trying to reinvigorate the OM line by selecting specimens with wider margins for tissue culture. It seems the original OM was a good grower, and the people starting wanting narrower margins. Narrower dark margins means less chlorophyll, less vigor.
The last picture is a summer 2021 new addition, Olive Bailey Langdon. I was disappointed with this one at first because the plant was small for the price I paid and lack of newness of this cultivar. However, I am optimistic that this will be a great addition to my garden as this photo was taken 11/7/21!

Steve, I know exactly what you mean about roots getting into spin out bags through the seams! Love your Ooh la la. It's a good size.

Thanks NHL, I like your Ooh La La too. The dark green and medium green streaks really make it stand out. I haven't been at this Hosta game for that long. I'm hoping the next couple years have me complaining about overcrowding due to Hosta size.

That was my first spin out bag. Now I make sure to position the seam away from where the trees are and put rocks and/or the plant marker in the way. May not make much difference, but it can't hurt.
