Change the lighting to all LEds 4000K and then see if that is what was lacking.The space looks fine to me. I think since you just moved in take a bit more time to analyze all the things you would change if you had a huge budget . For me that island would be a no go and the drawers beside the range are too small . so I would be redesigning to suit my taste and how I cook which to me is how a kitchen is designed I think the cabinets are okay and not precious enoght to keep if they do not function for you.

Backsplash seems neutral and if it doesn't bother you, just work around, saving $$ and the disruption. Suggestions below (at little cost) and I think they will go a long way. Would island work better if you took out the sink and added a longer counter. You could paint and then decorate to suit.

Color below would be lovely with your cabinetry; then find a runner and add roman blinds.

If the cabinets are not worn or damaged, just update the hardware, your light fixtures and the backsplash. Replace appliances as they give up the ghost. Right now choices are limited and ship dates are outrageous. It is a nice, functional kitchen, so I'd live with it until shipping delays change. The island looks like a two-piece piece that is put together. Perhaps one panel with trim detail like the doors could remedy that "glued together" look. Painting it could give the kitchen just the "pick-me-up" it needs.

why do you need a second sink? seems like that island would be useful as a prep/work surface - or replace it with a rolling butcher block one, so the work surface is moveable . my former house had a cooktop in that area too - i thought it worked fine location-wise. drawers below the waist always! :)

how much do you dislike that corner cooktop?

I ask because replacing countertops (which I think you should do, especially with that rounded peninsula) and backsplash will be at least 6K. If you plan on moving that or redoing in the next few years, I wouldn't waste the money right now.

I think that 'island' sink in front of you sink is ridiculous. looks like a handwashing station!

did they put that there solely for veggie prepping? you have a nice size sink and plenty of counter space near it, so I think the sink in the middle is a waste of real estate.

You could remove the sink and just get a new counertop (or a butcher block) and have a better work station w/o that sink in the way. Trim out the island w/board and batten, paint it a diff color

Or,, is bring in a diff, larger island ( a cab maker could matching the style of your cabs and you'd have a diff color) and cut off the peninsula. (perhaps you could salvage those base cabinets for the island).

Your stove top issue (and do you have two ovens?) what if you removed the wall oven, cabs, and put the fridge over there. Then move the stove top over to the lower oven ? (or simplyfy the whole thing and just get a nice 36" range.

Move the entire fridge cabinet surround to the wall oven spot.

get a new range.

Or, keep the wall oven, remove the other lower oven and move your stove top to that position.

Get new countertops, new appliances.

Yes, love that idea. I definitely do not need two sinks...I am guessing it was a prep sink for cutting veggies. I think making the island bigger or at least the counter bigger and painting it is a great idea. There are two ovens...I am hesitant to move the cook top unless we do a pretty big remodel so part of me wants to keep it all as is and part of me wants to gut it! I honestly don't mind the location...it just seems a little weird but functionality, it is good. But budget wise, I think countertops, appliances, backsplash,hardware and lighting are the best option. I think I would be okay with the kitchen if we did all that...but do worry that in 5 years or so I would like to redo the whole thing...
