Baseboard Trim Poll: 1x6 or 1x4 for < 8ft ceilings?

I’m trying to decide between 1x6 and 1x4 baseboard trim. I have installed craftsman/farmhouse style window casings (slightly seen in photo) and will be going for a modern-ish farmhouse design. My ceilings are low at 92” high. If I do anything larger than 3.5” trim( 1x4) I will need to route small sections of trim to fit underneath wall registers; but then ratio-wise 1x6 seems to be the number recommended and it might take away the top heavy look I’ve created with the window casings. Thoughts?

4 ". It's plenty for 7'8" and having it go up and down around wall register will be distracting.

it seriously doesn't bother anyone suggesting six that the top is going to have to be cut because of wall registers? It's not good design to have trim interrupted by vents or outlets and switches.
