This was actually an old brick fireplace, with stone shelves that I refaced with travertine. Doing this in a shower would be interesting.... My concern in showers is always how many changes of plane you have, because with each corner, you have a vulnerability to water penetration. If you were to attempt this in a shower, you would want to be very thoughtful of how you would waterproof. Best of luck!
