interesting story .. maybe.. that rhodie was the ONLY ornamental plant on my 5 acres when i bought the place ...

and note.. i used the sidewalk to level the bricks ... and when backfilled ... hide the 18 inches of foundation by the garage ... had to make sure i didnt bury the rhodie roots too much.. to fast ... but it loved the irrigation ... so it adapted ...

True orange is hard to find in my garden, most of my orange shades are softer but I found a couple

Like I stated in the WHITE color thread, if I bothered/remembered to take photos of my own garden, I would have lots to contribute here. Orange is one of my favorite garden colors!

So sadly, no photos but a few of my orange colored plants are Geum 'Mango Lassi', Helianthemum 'Henfield Brilliant', Papaver orientale 'Harvest Moon', Crocosmia 'Emily McKenzie' 'Rocket Bronze' snap dragons, 'African Queen' trumpet lily and Grevillea victoriae. I'd include more shrubs if I could but orange flowered shrubs are few and far between. I kinda lean towards orange colored annuals as well.

Sungold, I didn't like cherry tomatoes until I found these.

a few years ago..an orange coleus that wasn't under attack by squirrels..

couldn't find a pic of my dark foliage begonia with orange blooms..I loved it..

geum, globe flower, wallflower, ice plant, torch lily, beardtongue, pansy, iris, poppy, primrose have some early season orange.

oursteelers I LOVE the purple and orange together! One of my favorite combinations. And sandyslopes, I won't be without Sungolds. When my kids were little they would just stand in the garden and eat them off the vine!

I've come full circle on orange. I remember when I first started gardening I got an orange phlox by mail-order by mistake, and I was appalled, lol. But little by little I've come around. My garden is predominantly pinks and purples, but I have one corner where I have all hotter colors, and I love the orange pops of color!

That’s how I am with orange-slowly coming round to it over time. I sorta got eased into it by liking the pairing of peachy/cream colors with lavenders and blues and then graduated to the darker shades

ken I am NEVER without marigolds but apparently I've never taken a picture of them, poor things! I was actually very surprised to find no photos of marigolds in my pictures! Or I guess of my ditch lilies, tiger lilies or mums. Oh my!

I still can't get over the fact that I have no pics of my ditch lilies, because I'm such a fan when they are in the right spot (along a stone wall, etc) but I remembered this photo. Not my garden, but an old farmstead down the street. It's a poor picture of a glorious corner but it's the best I have. The sun comes up at the end of that road down the hill, and at sunrise that corner just glows! The daylilies continue both to the left and to the right but unfortunately have gotten overgrown by non-native vining weeds

Thanks on my daughter's behalf...she took the picture. Did you see all the sea birds floating in the water? That's some cold water, too. She has one pic of a bunch of eagles perched on a boat deck.
