Silicone counter protectors on top of the unused grates help when I’m cooking particularly splaterry foods. Regardless, I clean the top every evening.

I purchased something similar for my Samsung gas range, and returned them. They did not fit exactly. I now clean my stainless steel range top with WD 40 and it looks great!

It does not need to be ”protected”. Do a daily wipe down, and a weekly clean. Just like any other range.

@kculbers - you should not use WD-40 to clean your gas rangetop. It is both toxic and flammable. It should not be around food, nor anywhere near a gas flame. The label has a skull-and-bones, the words "extreme danger" in large capital letters, the words "flammable" and "poison" in large letters, and images of an explosion and flames. If you want to continue to use WD-40 when there are a ton of cleaning products on the market, that is your choice. I am writing this to warn others not to take your use of it as a recommendation in any way.

We fry a lot and Indian cooking is rough on the range. Lots of splatters. End of the day wipe down doesn’t seem to be enough. Thank you everyone.

Then switch to induction if you want high heat, controllability, and easy cleaning, all together. Gas doesn’t provide that. The extra cleaning work just has to be factored in as part of the cooking process.
