Layout/design ideas for basement apartment

This is a basement apartment, so I’m not looking for a HGTV worthy finished product, but am looking to layout and design suggestions to make it flow as much as possible.


Plumbing/drainage is in upper right of bathroom, so trying to have shower, toilet and kitchen sink in close proximity to that.

Notes on Project:


  1. Basement apartment
  2. Kitchen will have smaller fridge and and oven, with some cabinets
  3. Looking for layout suggestions for kitchen in particular
  4. More than likely doing butcher block countertop, since it’s not the traditional layout
  5. Bathroom is 9’ by 4 1/2 with plumbing/drainage in upper right corner of room
  6. Bathroom door is being moved to left of window
  7. Shower being used
  8. Reverse flow toilet being used
  9. Pedestal sink being used
