There are numerous styles of steel garage doors so you shouldn't have trouble finding something you like, or even one that looks very close to what you have now. I don't love the white doors and shutters. Garage doors are sold in various prefinished colors. If you do some more research and post a picture of your house with the colors you're considering (like a sample board) someone will photoshop it so you can see what it would look like. Have you thought about perking up your front door with a different color?

Yes-I'd like to update the front door color as well as the shutters but just don't know what color-my next day neighbor has similar color house paint and has pretty red door which I don't want to copycat and another neighbor has a pretty turquoise front door. Originally, we had green shutters but exchanged them out for white to make front windows look bigger-plus the siding doesn't allow for big shutters-I've seen some cool garage doors that look like mirrored glass but that seems too modern for our house. I also like the barn wood look. I will try to search for some garage door colors and hopefully someone will photoshop to give some great ideas! Thanks so much for your input kandrewspa!

We are doing a new build and I'm currently swimming with door construction thoughts. We live in the high western desert, so 100s in the summer and single digits in winter (though usually 20s). Dry, little humidity. I grew up in New England, where garage doors were WOOD! But I'm not sure wood is good in this dry climate. We want something nice looking, as the door faces the street. Quality, but not $$$$ or cheap. Thoughts and recommendations? We are looking at Clopay (ok, not impressed with the finishes on the modern steel door) and Martin (looking this week, like the faux wood options). Do I go steel? Faux wood composite? We are going for a flat plank, plain look as house is modern farmhouse. THANK YOU!
