I know when our builder said “where do you want to put your lights”.. I thought isn’t there some sort of standard. But spaces are so different. I think we did a good job placing them but I now realize that no one else notices( even if we had made mistakes). As long as you have some fun lighting over the island and under cabinet lighting, you will not be lacking in light. If you are like me, you’ll want them to be fairly even looking… I drew on your picture where I’d put the lights.

1. There are no dimensions on your drawing.

2. Don't put a recessed light in front of a range hood where the light will reflect off the hood.

4. Don't forget an LED-compatible dimmer.

5. (My 8' x 8' galley kitchen has four recessed light which is plenty. The lights are 3500K.)
