A product called Howard Feed n Wax will perk that right up. It’s at Lowes or on Amazon.

Strip it, sand it and re-stain. The grain will darken by itself. Buy a small piece of oak to practice on.

Thanks, Shuler C, but perhaps that image doesn't really show the finish. It's not plain stained oak. There is a very deliberate layer of dark "antiquing". There is also quite a bit of texture.

Like I said, I don't think I can replicate it.

I'm having trouble seeing the white, but from prior experience I know that a coat of clear polish will really give life to a worn looking finish. If the white you're referring to is a bleached type of white where the finish has faded, this might be perfect for you. I was amazed at how transformed some of my items looked when I finished.

Show a picture of the whole piece.

I would, without seeing the whole piece which would give an idea of age, mix up some denatured alcohol and lacquer thinner in the ratio of 3 parts alcohol to 1 part lacques thinner andw ipe on a small section and quickly wipe off with a soft rag....repeat over the whole thing....this will remove the surface "gook" and even lout the color without getting down to the abre wood.

Then either use a gel stain if the color isn' dark enough or apply av arnish or a shellac....after letting the piece dry for several days to a week.
