You don't appear to have room for the fireplace foot print now, with our couch. I bet the wood mantle surround could be easily swapped out for something a tish more to your liking. No reason to reinvent the wheel on this update.

We will be changing the flooring to a laminate still picking up some of the colour of the railings, it’s hard to do anything different because all the trim is the same colour

Run that bad boy up to the ceiling. It will make a statement! put the television to one side, sitting on a nice looking television stand.

Is your current floor wood? If so, it can be stained a different shade rather than putting down laminate. Are you planning to keep the current furniture? If so, the new darker floor will match the color of the furniture, but that’s not what I’d recommend if you want a more modern space.

No the floor is laminate, a few areas are damaged so we are thinking the vinyl as seed in the photo. I am very open to ideas, that is my future that will be staying
