Hard to tell. Might be good to take a close up of the leaves

Whatever it is it’s miserable. My guess is that it is an outdoor tree brought inside for temporary decoration, just like the Aquilegias in pots elsewhere in the picture.

I am wondering if that is really inside. Looks like an atrium to me, open to the sky. But still rather dark so the plants may be struggling.

Lots of times these scenes are staged to accommodate a magazine photo shoot or whatever. So the actual plants included are really immaterial as they would not normally be grown under those staged conditions.

There are many plant, tree, etc identifier. apps online. Try one of those.

Apps not reliable? Hmmm, I suppose that’s why a very high quality nursery in my area uses them.

I have yet to see or hear of an app more reliable than the excellent answers given here.

btw, any nursery worth its salt would never need to rely on an app for plant ID!! That they do speaks volumes about their being truly "high quality"!!

I didn’t state they RELY on them. I’ve just taken two photos recently to my nursery last week to find out what the plants were…. They were able to tell me what they were & directed me to the plants ( a specific variety of Lilac & a variety of ficus ). It was helpful to show them my photos. Jeeez ! Btw, this nursery is incredible…Roger’s Gardens here in Newport Beach.. if you’re ever in the area you might like to visit, I believe you might find that it’s “worth it’s salt”.

Taking photos of a plant into the nursery to get an ID and posting here are virtually the same activity except here, one doesn't have to leave the comfort of their own home to get a fast and almost always correct ID :-) No apps need - or should - be involved in either case.

And I've been to Roger's many times. I guess it depends how one defines an "incredible" nursery. I'd consider Roger's to be more of a retail garden center than a plantsman's nursery. Big focus on garden doo-dads and accoutrements and a very limited selection of landscape plants. Mostly annuals, edibles and houseplants....what the wealthy hobby gardeners look for. And with a Newport Beach/Corona del Mar price tag to match! If you really want an excellent nursery, drive a few miles south to the Plant Depot in San Juan Capistrano. This is a full service nursery with a huge range of plants. Nothing fancy.......just a whole lotta plants of ALL types! That is where I shopped when I did landscape design in OC.

I think the tree in question is a very sad Japanese Maple from the far back corner of the nursery. That's what my app thinks. If not a JM, one of those will give you that look. Just pick a happy one.

I’ve never seen a Japanese maple with hawthorn-like clusters of white flowers and small ovate leaves. Hope you're joking about the app.

Forgive me floral. I just came from the eye doctor. Yes, it is secondary cataracts with an easy one eye at a time office visit laser fix. I'll be blind for another month though. It does have a JM form somewhat at least.
