Yes to the warm color of the wood flooring. With the shape of that room, I’d consider a narrower plank set in a herringbone pattern. Not sure what the circular areas are flanking the entryway. I’ve visited the Scottsdale area several times, but I am not real familiar with the elements of sw architecture. When I think of Scottsdale, I think of warm whites, old wood, wrought iron and terra cotta tile roofs, and beautiful glazed ceramic pots and colorful vegetation. When I look at your room, a warm white would update, lightened everything up and showcase but streamline the architecture of the space.

What warm white paint would you recommend?

A knowledgeable person at the paint store could advise about specific colors. But in looking at the second photo of your space, something closer to the white on your ceiling as opposed to the true white on the baseboard. Does that help?

darris, we also live in the Scottsdale area. I would like to give you a word of caution when choosing flooring so that you can avoid the issue we just faced. We had engineered wood flooring in our 350 sf office. Would you believe that termites came up through a crack in the slab and began feasting on our floor? We only discovered it when we removed a large area rug. In the Phoenix area, the saying is, it's not IF you'll get termites, but when. Our wood flooring had to be completely torn out in order for the exterminator to drill down under the slab to treat the soil. We replaced the engineered wood floor with travertine to match the rest of the house. If you decide to do more engineered wood flooring, make sure any cracks in the slab have been treated within 5 years and buy extra wood planks just in case.

By the way, I think a consistent flooring looks better throughout the house anyway. Consider porcelain tile that looks like wood.

I had no idea about termites in AZ…a wood-look tile floor would avoid that issue!

You can still do wood. Just pay attention and have regular inspections.

Further, I do NOT recommend Mission Hardwood. We used them and they were VERY slow, understaffed, and they made a mess of the finishing details. Also, they were very expensive and price went up during the job. Cost us a ton of extra money w other trades and our move bc of their inability to manage to a schedule.

Inwould do a light wood floor that will not look stripy. zurich white is a beaitiful color good luck
