Have you seen the pop out outlets? Several brands make them, but Legrand does…. But my advice is, put your outlets where you need them.

Our electrician looked at me as if I had 3 eyes when I didn't want the plugmold under our only real upper cabinet. I explained having to see the hanging cord for our toaster. While it works for many locations, it didn't make sense for mine. You can do a combination ;)

Mix and match! The only appliance I keep on my counter is the coffee machine. The coffee bar area is the only place I put an outlet in the backsplash. The cord and outlet are hidden by the machine. Everywhere else the outlets are under cabs. My many other appliances sit, plugged in In a deeper cab that goes down to the counter, and simply have to be pulled forward for use. I love this setup. Not a cord to be seen.

We ran into an issue where we didn't want to see the plugmold under the cabinets. Since our cabinets will be frameless, they'd have to add a 3/4" piece of wood trim around the bottom of the cabinets, wrecking the look of our vertical grain walnut cabinets. I think we're going to go with backsplash outlets.

There are tile manufacturers that make outlet and switchplate covers from their tile material. We used Subway Ceramics by Heritage Tile. Lutron has outlets and switches in many colors, that closely match the color of a variety of tile and wall paint colors.

Here you go! One wall has wine bar and coffee bar. Perpendicular to that is the wall with stove, undercab outlets, and appliance cab in corner.

@jugalava - we have that piece under our cabinets, but it’s the under counter lights - just so you can see what it “might” look like with walnut cabs…
