Off-white shaker with a prefab quartz that has a little movement is a smart, budget-friendly pairing, and it will stay classic for years.

For the backsplash, I'd keep it quieter than the countertop so the quartz gets to be the star. Two easy options: a glossy 3x12 or 2x8 ceramic in a white that matches your cabinet color (stacked vertically or a simple offset), or a handmade-look zellige in a soft warm white for texture without pattern.

Hold the tile sample right against a cabinet door and the quartz before you buy. A stark white next to off-white cabinets can make them look dingy. Keep the grout close to the tile color so it reads calm. And if you want one wow spot, run the quartz up the wall behind the range only.

Thanks for your suggestions Jill! I like this pattern although it might not be a popular choice nowadays. People like wood-like carbinet and Taj countertops but I do not feel this kind of combo would a fit for this house. Needs a bit more tranditional style.

how about this one?

If you would like a bit more presence to your counter impact, it can be used as the b splash with protection behind a gas range. Savings on tiler labor.

Off-white shaker is a great base, and a quartz with some character keeps it from feeling flat. A few things I'd check. Look at a full slab or a large sample, not a small chip, next to your cabinet door and flooring sample in your own kitchen light. Make sure the undertones agree, warm with warm or cool with cool, since that's what makes a kitchen feel finished. If the counter has movement, keep the backsplash quiet: a handmade look subway or zellige style tile in a soft white, set with a grout close to the tile color, works beautifully with shaker. If the counter is fairly plain, that's your chance to bring texture or a little pattern into the backsplash. Carrying one finish from your bathrooms, like the hardware tone, ties the house together.
