should I replace our red sectional couch?

Hello everyone,

We recently painted our big room ceilings and walls and not certain if the red couch looks okay with our new color scheme. What about the rug?

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Photo attached and I can provide more photos if you want.

Thanks much 😀

How about a cream color slip cover?

You’re just not finished yet! Pull the sectional onto the rug (not my style, but really cute and love all the colors). Notice in turtlexings picture above how a few ( repeat, a few) of the pictures echo the red? You still don’t have lamps, throws, pillows, or chairs. You can work this out!

Thanks, all! I am still decorating in progress and will post an update when I can. Happy Valentines to all of ya! ❤️

    Love the wall color.
    Love the sofa color
    Love the rug.

Keep going because you're on the right track. I love a room that isn't afraid to be bold. This is a room people will want to gather in. Not stuffy,, not pretentious. Very comfortable.

Easier to repaint than replace a great sofa and rug, but I would not jump to any change. Finish your vision, live with it. See what you think after a few months.

I love red but IMO the wall color does not work and IMO you need a lot more furniture for sure so once you have added all the extra pieces you need the red will be a nice spot of color. I think my issue with the wall color is that I love turquoise in bedrooms but not in living spaces and also adding drapes and go in the direction of Turtlexings24 ideas it will be afabulous space when done.

I rather like the red sectional but it does seem to clash with the wall color. The sofa does work well with the flooring from what I can tell from the photograph. Perhaps once you have tables (coffee and end), other chairs, lamps and other furnishings that coordinate well things should fall into place and give you a cohesive look. Good luck!

I think you should ask yourself a few questions:

Is sectional in good condition/did you want to invest in a new one.

Do you like the wall color/if not, are you prepared to repaint vs new sectional.

Are you willing to buy/test and return items, as room won’t be the easiest to accessorize.

If you keep sectional and wall color, an eclectic combination is the way to go. Mix prints, patterns, small injections of red and blue with art, accessories and if adding drapes, go neutral.

Wanted to provide an interesting ”look” and it could be a very attractive space. Take your time and good luck

Great inspiration picture (and advice) from @turtlexings24.

I like the red in there, definitely do-able. :)

The paint is too blue. I love the darker floor and rug. Try a deeper gray on the walls, or a lighter cream or white.

At eye level - makes more a focus on red and wall color - so I'd try a rug blending those, and with a new floor color. But it matters if nearby room/ kitchen is all white, or other... Current rug with celery's help, nice.

Height of ceiling- could have hefty volume in chair design especially its height... Some like palette of red and blue, etc...

I wouldn't choose royal blue. This comes in blue.

whatever neutral suits ya. To me, nice that it looks like parts of the ceiling, kind of rustic.
