Cabinets.com worth it?

I'm on a tight budget, like everyone else. I was going to make Kraftmaid work and stretch my budget until their price increase in November. I can't stomach it now.
I've been doing a lot of research into RTA stores or other online shops. So far, cabinets.com has come back with really good reviews. I'm not looking for anything Earth shattering because I've always had terrible kitchens. I really just want the basics+, like soft close and maybe a few upgrades.
Can anyone talk to me about their experience with cabinets.com??

Gawdawful import junk with terrible logistical problems waiting on that slow boat from china.

I didn't realize this was still getting traction. I ended up getting a quote from them and including the sale they were running, the price was DOUBLE what I was quoted for Kraftmaid from my local hardware store. So... I'm making Kraftmaid work!

    Is this for real? Seriously?

Because the head of customer service the other day said he was going to personally supervise the remaking of my cabinets. I know he was kind of joking but I would hate to find out that they were not actually making cabinets in the United States.

They manufacture absolutely nothing. They are sellers of import RTA cabinets. And not very good ones. They dont really “design” either. Their employee’s role is to sell you the highest priced junk they can, and as much of it as they can. The only thing that they are good at is marketing, and separating people from their money for junk.

Mark - I do agree they make it sound like they produce the cabinets! Wild.

yeah, we're looking into it. something fishy going on there. only some of the cabinets in our order were stacked and wrapped properly on the pallets. If this was indeed shipped from Florida to our home in PA, I don't know how the boxes could have been in this horrible condition.

and the cabinets that looked OK on the pallet were all damaged. they look used. honestly looks like they sent us cabinets that were returned or used. it's embarassing. i'm trying to post photos here, but they're not showing up.

We placed a large cabinet order from Cabinets.com and their quality control is horrendous. Over half the cabinets we received were damaged in some way and some of the damage was due to shipping, and some was due to poor workmanship. We had to wait over a month to get things replaced, delaying our job, and costing additional money. I would not recommend ordering from them at all.

I could write all day about this company. A replacement cabinets came a few weeks ago and they were in OK shape. They really don’t put much care into to the workmanship. They just don’t. Anyway, two weeks ago they sent us the same shipment again so they’re really disorganized. So now we have seven extra cabinets just sitting in front of our garage that were dropped off by delivery company. And when I emailed them to have them return they have not responded at all.

Hey, I’m just one person. You might get lucky and get good cabinets but, they are really not that cheap. You’re better off going to Home Depot and I guarantee you that craft made it making cabinets with better plywood than what cabinets.com are using

We are so disappointed. When I get around to it I’m going to post the 40 or 50 pictures of damage

Check out the workmanship on this door. And they claim it has to do with shipping. This door was wrapped in plastic so it was not wrapped very well and behind a little piece of cardboard so there’s no way that shipping could have done it. I just don’t understand why they keep bragging about their exceptional quality control. Again, this is one of about 40 or 50 photos that I can send

Mark, you'd be shocked at the quality I got from Kraftmaid, too. Honestly, I think everyone just sucks at this point. This is a Kraftmaid Cabinet we recently had delivered. It's just one of a few examples of issues we've had. The replacements came in even worse than some of the originals, too. It's wild.

Yeah, probably. But the lack of urgency from Cabinets.com is so egregious. They also recently erroneously sent me an order of 7 cabinets. No idea why they sent them but they did. When I contacted Bryan in customer service 2 weeks ago, he told me he'd take care of it. But they're still here blocking our garage. No plan in sight to remove them.

Kraftmaid took 4 weeks to send me replacements that were significantly worse than the originals. Absolutely wild.

Took them over 2 months to honor my claim for damaged doors. They finally came in, not to my surprise, they are just as damaged is the original doors. I hope more and more people see this review. Do not buy from cabinets.com, go to IKEA and wait a little bit longer. Everything will come in a box and everything will be in great shape with no scratches or nicks anywhere. And all you have to do is easily assemble and then you’ll live fine. You’ll be so happy. Do not buy anything from this company.

And, this is important. None of this damages from shipping. It’s not. It’s damage from somebody not caring.

The woodwork is good, the final assembly is terrible. I can only imagine how the person who attached the rails hated his job

Find a local dealer that sells J&K cabinetry. Low price...good quality for that price.

Cabinets.com sucks. I have been waiting more than 2 months for my cabinets. Their customer service is dismissive and their designers hard to work with. I haven't gotten my cabinets yet because they tried mailing it to an address in Texas when they should have gone to Oklahoma. They can't give me a proper date on the cabinets. This is costing me money time and most of all, aggravation. I DO NOT recommend this company.

I have had the cabinets for 2 years . Look at how they warp. DO NOT BUY from them. Trust me.

I ordered 13 cabinets for my laundry room on Feb 12 2024 from Cabinets.com. On April 10 they arrived and at least 40% of the order was defective and not worthy of installing. There were cracks in the face frames, glue joints were separated, very poor finishes on many cabinets and doors. There are chips and or defects and in the wood that were just painted over. Paint was actually missing on some doors edges. Many doors were warped or twisted. After taking pictures of all the defects etc. and submitting them to their claims dept. a replacement order was generated on April 19. On May 14 the replacements for all of the defective products arrived. Once again, every single replacement product contained multiple defects, poor workmanship etc. I ordered several 39 inch high cabinets - ALL of them were different heights - doors were different heights as well. Cracked joints, warped doors, crooked cabinets, poor quality finishes etc. On top of that the paint finish was completely different. The color seemed different and the finish was a flat finish whereas the finish on the original shipment was more of a semi-gloss. Originally they disputed that claim saying they always use the same paint etc. Then after being presented with photo evidence of the obvious difference I was told by Jerry that between the time of my original order and the replacement order they had changed their paint application process. He has told me that there is an acclimation period of 60 days for the paint to "acclimate" and attain the same sheen as the original cabinets. I completely dispute this will happen and insist he send me all new doors and cabinets. He said they will send me new cabinets only and we should wait for the doors to "acclimate". I have since entertained painting bids to paint all of the cabinets so they will match and all 4 painting contractors dispute his "acclimation" claim about the paint sheen. The bids I received are all around $3-4000 to repaint all of the cabinets. This assumes that I can get cabinets that aren't defective in some other way. Needless to say, you should never buy anyting from them. Any good review has to be a FAKE!! plain and simple. They are HORRIBLE!!! So much more that cant be seen in photos!!

Don't buy cabinets from an online source EVER! These kitchen nightmares have been happening since the internet and online buying became a thing. I've seen many online outlets come and go over the years...leaving MANY of their clients hanging with unfinished or damaged kitchens. Most, if not all, are now LONG GONE! With new ones popping up all the time suckering in a younger and newer market that oblivious to the risk. Find a good local low end cabinet line if you need to keep costs down. At least you'll have somehwere to go if there's issues. J&K cabinetry is a good entry level.

Wish I would've seen this thread before I used them. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from CABINETS.COM It has been a NIGHTMARE. I spent $11k and they are not good quality but the worst part is they kept sending me damaged cabinets/doors. I would have to wait 8-12 weeks each time. Finally, after 7 months of me complaining and asking them to just give me the money to replace or fix the damaged ones they gave me a $150 refund for one cabinet and no others. LOL They told me they want to make things right with their warranty and not give refunds but they just keep shipping them with very little protection. Then they say, oh we will use a different shipper and they still come damaged. My home was torn apart for over 10 months(time from when my order was placed) until I just finally paid to have the cabinets fixed by my installer. I have also found cracks that I did not notice at first in some of the drawers. But the worst part is, that I did charcoal stained cabinets and they do not match...one is really light and then the next is really dark. Horrible stain job.... :( Customer service sends you these pre-written statements on why the stain comes out the way it does, so clearly I am not the first to complain. It is bad. Then they send you new doors and your so excited you can finally install them and they all look the exact same. You might get 1 good one...Like I said... a nightmare. RUN from this company. I can go on and on and on. And I can send or post pics to anyone that would like to see them.

The reviews on Google for Cabinets.com

    are false - i can’t post a review.

my cabinets were warped, damaged and cracked

  • last year

I've had a terrible experience; I paid $11k, a third of my cabinets were either heavily damaged or missing - turns out the missing one was sitting on a loading dock for two months. They took three weeks to send replacements, and at that they weren't even finished - just raw wood. And that's on top of the really shoddy craftsmanship - cabinets held together with a few small staples and half the drawer fronts fell off and they told me to fix it myself. Nothing but disappointment.

Worst customer service EVER! Stay away. Cabinets arrived with large puncture holes in the doors. $75 shipping fee to ship one single small door. They also priced my dishwasher panel (door) at $370, plus tax and shipping for a total of $450. Crazy!

Unfortunately, I am now experiencing most of the situations described in these stories. Multiple "lost in transit" missing cabinets, damaged cabinets, wrong replacement cabinets, fake sincerity from customer service... I'm 5 months ans $12,000 in.
