I would try 18. What material would you be using.

What makes them more maintenance than any other tile?

This tile has been here since 1800. If you don't use a polished finish I think maintenance would be normal

I’d be using porcelain fir it’s durability and in matte finish. I don’t want polished.

I think it would look stunning tho (the checkerboard pattern). Make sure you post an after w it decorated.

I agree no more work than any other floor but I need to see what is isn the spaces around this entry and also what is going in the space . Waht will be the flooring in the other spaces , what are you planning for the FP these elemnts all need to work together . I do think the 18 x18 will be abetter fit in your space

Please post pictures of this home as you go along renovating. It looks like an interesting home, I can tell by the stair rail and light fixture, it is an older home. Love what your doing with the foyer. Can't wait to see the what you do with the rest of the home.

Since you are using porcelain, both tiles need to come from the same series that has both colors. It's not easy to mix across different tiles due to thickness, edges; be sure you select a rectified line.

My first home after marriage had that in the living and dining. Loved it!

I like the big bold 24x24, but 18x18 might be a bit more classic. This is going to look great either way!

Can anyone provide a rendering or what the 18”x18” would look like? What program can I use? I also want to try a 20x20” rendering too

Are you planning to cut down the tiles to the specific size? 20x20 is not a common size in a marble look.

This client used 24x24 and cut them down to 9x9 if I remember correctly.

Yes, I would have them cut. I know, it’s frowned upon, but everyone walking in my space is saying 24x24 is too big. So I’m considering cutting to 20 or trying to find a good 18”

We just put this down and I'd show you, but it's still under ramboard until all crews are out.

12" Silestone (quartz) in white and midtone grey. Came out great in a similar-size and scale space to yours--we framed it in as a tile rug bordered by wood versus going wall-to-wall. But dig the inspo, think the scale is just a bit more than you want in your exact space.

OMG with all the choices out there DO NOT SPEND ALL THAT MONEY TO CUT DOWN MATERIAL. Select a tile that is rectified so that the grout lines will be minimal.

I think there is nothing wrong with the larger size, but I would consider spending money to have a black or white border of tile next to the wall so there are only full or half tiles. IMO it's an upgrade that makes a great difference in the final appearance.
