Having oak stairs put in. Advice for platform? Paint color in this dark stairwell?

I would put oak on the landing to match the stairs.

Yes of course . Looking for advice on wall decor in addition to what’s there and paint

I am not sure you need additional wall decor, really. Do you want the wall paint to be even lighter than what is already there? I am not sure what you are asking, it appears to be almost white, now.

It's hard to give wall paint color advice if we don't know what you have going on in other parts of your home. I can say Pink, but would that work for you?

I would not add any decor on the landing or the side wall by the railing.

Instead, I would replace the mirror and pick out large bold art in it's place.

I would not have anything on the landing, but would update the light fixture and maybe get one that can go brighter if you want more light.

I would not place anything on the landing, and would replace the mirror with a piece of colorful art and take down the other two pics (near the top of the stairs). Safety first - the staircase isn't a place to have people's eyes roaming or having something on the landing that is a trip hazard. The wall color looks fine - I'd replace the light fixture with something that will provide much more light if that is a concern. One last thing - the switch cover seems fairly dated. I'd replace that as you are making changes.

Update light fixture, replace mirror with a tall painting, squared off stair rail that matches the steps, replace light switch. Do a fixture with a dimmable bulb and use a lutron switch. Let go of the vase.

Im under the impression you think the mirror helps bounce light around and that is why it is there.

I also can see that because of the light fixture placement, brighter bulbs would be blinding. I think the real solution is a directional light there with 2 or three lights that can be shone onto the walls. then do a brighter white paint more blue undertone than yellow.

Another option would be, if you are putting new stairs in, put in some step lights.

I’m a fan of wallpaper in stairwells because it adds color and pattern and texture and decoration to a space that doesn’t have a lot of room for individual items otherwise, you can go a little bolder or bigger because you don’t spend much time in it to easily get bored with it and it’s a good way to segue from one space to another when their colors or designs don’t easily flow together.

    You’v great advice about lighting!

Remove the bottle thing and the pictures on the left. Put one large piece of art that you love on that back wall. (Image just for general scale.)

You might look into changing your bulbs in your fixture to a clearer, cooler white, not “warm”. Your space will be brighter.

    Yes! Will definitely try this

Simply changing the light helped. Thoughts on long mirror vs art?

Always art! People can be disoriented seeing themselves coming down the stairs. Mirrors should reflect something beautiful or interesting and stairs don't qualify.

    Always art! agree with @decoenthusiaste

Mirrors throw off people as they walk down the stairs.

Again, appreciate the advice, however I am not changing the pendants, just interested in tips for what decor can go on this table, or rearrangement of decor already there. Thank you so much for advice

This area looks like it belongs to the bar area.

To me.......It's for holding drinks or appetizers. It's more of a buffet area, that relates to having a gathering, family, events.

I would not put any decor on it.

take the pictures you have stacked and put them between the pendants, the countertop does in fact look like a service area, I wouldn't bring attention to it.

also you said simply changing the light worked? what did you put up?
