bedspread and headboard

Do you think this cream/beige headboard go with this material for a bedspread? Walls are white. Nightstands are similar color to headboard. Adjacent bathroom is white and gray.

    Here’s the headboard

    No.

Here it is next to the actual bed. The taupe blanket we have on it temporarily, makes the room so dark. And it looks too monochromatic. I thought the white brightened up the room. I think the bedspread comes in same pattern with beige vs light blue. Could we add a gray bench or gray chair in the corner?

Pattern is much more blue gray in person like last two photos I sent.
    Still a no?

A continued no from me. You have mentioned several gray things that exist in the area already, and the beige/cream headboard is the odd-man-out.

Sounds like you are pretty far down the gray road, so get a different headboard.

There is gray in the bathroom. Bedroom has this headboard and nightstands. Both of these are new after waiting many months for their delivery. I do have paintings that tie the two rooms together. I really wanted to bring in gray.
Is it the bright white background of the bedspread that doesn’t work? If not, this spread does come in that same white with a natural/beige-ish pattern.

It’s a really pretty headboard and I can understand that you want to make it work.

IMO, the gray/blue and clean white do not look good with the headboard. Both are in the cold color family. Cream/beige is in the warm color family. The issue comes when cold and warm are right next to each other.

Could you find a bedspread that is mostly warm but has perhaps a sprinkling of a muted gray? A floral or some other mixed pattern?

Thank you for all the input. The headboard is new and we’re already thinking about making it gray! But the new nightstands are in the beige family too. I do not want a beige bedroom especially since my bathroom is gray and white.

I do like adding the pillows and I’m thinking that might tie it all together!

Funny how my last house’s kitchen from the 90’s had pickled floors, white cabinets and blue and beige wallpaper till we updated it in 2000 to be more “old
world”. And I loved that first kitchen!!

    Thank you all!

Hey, just a thought, OhNat, maybe I could find a bedspread in that pillow material?

That’s an idea! When I was searching for pillows, I tried different terms for beige, like “tan” or “gold.” Sometimes you have to play around with the terminology to get what you want from the search engines. I found this article about bedroom color schemes that might give you some inspiration:

I’m so confused! I think my ex-designer chose poorly. :
    White shutters
    White lamp
    Cream headboard
    Peruvian chandelier
Chantilly lace walls ( throughout house so I don’t want to change them)
    Jacobean wood floors

Triple dresser TBD ( Does it have to be in the beige family. Prefer to keep it light.)

Second photo is my favorite painting framed by artist which is art in itself.
You all have been so helpful. Given more details, can you help me choose a coverlet? I really wanted to blend this room with my bathroom which is gray and white. I think that might not be possible. At least the bathroom has the mini companion painting with same frame hung in there. Hopefully these paintings can tie the rooms together. I’m not worried about mixing contemporary with traditional, but I do want the coverlet’s color to fit. Accents of gray and light blue might help ease my mind that bath and bed go together….. maybe they don’t need to as a hallway separates them. I do want to keep bedroom light and airy as it’s small and only has two windows.

    Little bug, OhNat, and Tracy-

Remember this in white and blue? Here it is in white and beige/cream/natural. It might not match the headboard exactly (depending on the light), but it’s warm and blends.

We considered a white hotel coverlet with a simple beige stripe as well. That might show dirt more.

What do you think? Thank you for helping me.

Looking at your idea book, “Wish List,” you seem to be attracted to monochromatic rooms with pops of color in the accents. That’s safe, because accents are easy to change. I never would have predicted that painting from your description or the previous photos you shared. It’s a good thing you have some warm elements in the room, because that painting is all warm tones with some greens. Could you share a picture of your bedroom and bathroom? It will be easier for you to get advice when people can see the whole space. I think the white coverlet with beige accents would be great. Just make sure you can wash it. Then you can bring in green with plants and tie all your colors together with accessories.

Blush Pink + Candlelight Yellow + Charcoal Black elegant bedroom

The room in the attachment above would be snoozeville without the accessories. But it’s gorgeous. And just imagine how easy it would be to completely change the color palette.

Sorry, the link didn’t work. This is the room I was referring to.

    I didn’t know I had a wish list 😂

My bathroom is all white and gray so maybe her companion painting doesn’t belong in there? But to me, she’s a beauty. It’s funny about art. I’ve always chosen what I love. I choose a frame to go with the paintings. All other paintings in my house have been reframed contemporary. These two Darida paintings were framed by him. (My family room is very contemporary and I commissioned an artist to make two frameless abstracts for me.)
My new decorator is coming early this week. I’ve sent her photos, but she says she needs to see it all in person. I’ll keep you posted. And yes, the material is washable. It isn’t the same cream color as headboard. Does that matter if they blend and are both warm, or do I just go with a lighter cream colored coverlet?

Btw, there is some warmth in my bathroom- all pulls and faucets are polished nickel. Maybe this helps the painting fit more.

Surprise wishes!🧞‍♂️😂 I’m sure your decorator will be able to help you pull it all together! Your painting is beautiful and art should speak to you. See how these rooms incorporate colors from the artworks? You just need to do that. You should do some homework before your designer gets there. Google bedroom color schemes and save photos you like. That way, this designer will be able to make your rooms “you” and you won’t be disappointed.

I like the bedspread and feel when bed is fully dressed/layered, it will all come together.

It’s not that important to be matching the bathroom’s color. More important are that they ”feel” similar in tone. If unsure, add additional grey in bedroom.

I do feel there is a disconnect with lamp/chandelier; two different directions.

Having the similar art pair in both rooms won’t really help connect them overall. I’d keep them together and create a collage, mixing old/new, shapes and frames.

Thank you for taking the time to help me! I do like the one blue rose in her hair and I like the gold. I’d only do green with plants.

The coverlet goes with simple off white hotel shams with a champagne gold satin stripe.

We’ve yet to decide on a bench or chair and a new triple dresser. But I’m liking the way the bedroom is coming along now.

Our walls have a cool undertone and that’s going to have to be okay!!

Maureen, I love that first photo. That’s the feeling I was going for but that beige headboard threw me off.

1-Would I need to get a coverlet to match the headboard and throw a white/blue/beige throw at the end of bed (like that first photo)?
    or
2-Could I use that blue and white coverlet I first asked about and put a solid color throw at the end of the bed?

Your best bet is to experiment to help you decide what you prefer. Even when pro’s decorate, they usually test different pieces. The headboard is neutral and if you search beige padded headboards, you’ll see lots of bedding that doesn't include beige.
