Don't get too excited....
....but I am! Won't say almost on time but the early risers are proving to be just that again! Let's hope there's not much frost damage from the below freezing overnight temps for a couple of nights early next week.
These two are clausa var normalis and 'Chinese Sunrise'.
EDIT: So, I'm wondering why I'm only seeing the first picture in the post....Let's try text between them and see if both show in my browsers. I've tried Firefox, Chrome and Edge, all with the same result of not being able to see the 2nd picture.
And it's no different, the 2nd picture still does not show, wassup with that? I can see it when I do these edits, but not in the final posting....

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoPieter, my garden has decided to spring. Temperature will be 23 F in 4 days. I think at least 30 hostas have pipped up, potted hostas and the ones planted in the ground. I gave up photographing all of them when I saw that even the Halcyon lineage has started to pip. I am both excited and saddened to see the pips. Late spring frosts do so much damage.

Debra, thank you for you interest. I actually move pipping pots into the crawl space for frost or cold snaps. I cover the planted hostas that are pipping with a thick layer of oak leaves. If it is not windy, I also place an inverted pot or barrel over the oak-leaf-covered eager hostas. With 30 mph winds, pots, barrels, and oak leaves blow away. The garden will be fine, though.
