painting stairs black

Hello, based on recommendations on this forum, we have decided to print stair balusters (and maybe newel posts as well) black and risers white. We’ll keep the hand rails wood. Can you please recommend soft black color for balusters? Do you recommend flat, egg shell or satin?

SW Tricorn Black is a popular black. I would do them semi-gloss like trim

If you had advice on this forum, then I suggest you continue with it; post your question about color and finish there, on your original. Moving on, starting a new post, will muck the waters because

newbies to the dilemma will add suggestions that will put you back in never, never land.

As in "why would you paint spindles black?"
