Daylily season has officially started here

Our daylily season starts a littler earlier than for most folks. As many of you know, we keep a few tender daylilies in our greenhouse. Tom Adams has been blooming for several days now. Several others are putting up scapes too.


Here is Tom. We have been pollinating the flowers and it looks like we might have 5 pods already.



Daylily seedlings are also sprouting. All of the seeds have been planted and every tray has some seedlings up. We picked up a few more seeds last weekend (I had half a tray empy so I have to put something in those cells), so I have to get them planted. Here is a photo of the seedlings.



The birds are singing and the temperature is in the 50's. I need to get out and rake out some of the beds. I took a walk around the garden yesterday and saw what looks to be a dormant daylily coming up. I was surprised because it has been really cold here just a few days ago.


Spring is so exciting.
