I like the black door. If you go with black, get a black storm door. The garage door is fine in white. I would not paint over a factory finish. The only other thing is to remove the shutters on the picture window.

Basically every question around white/black will not make very much of a difference/update and you might as well leave, as it’s nice.You could freshen up the stucco with a whiter shade. If not in good shape, siding would be the alternative as it will cost more, but you would never have to worry about upkeep.

If you want a true update, changing the color scheme is the way to go. Consider increasing the size of the pillars and creating more interest on porch. Larger lanterns/coach lights would also be nice.

I think a re-work of the shrubbery and hedge right of the round post is in order, along with removal of the shutters on the triple window if there is no variation in the brick color behind them. Have you considered replacing the trim shutters with some that at least appear as though they could actually function and close over the windows? Enlarge all exterior lantern lights to be 1/3 of the front door's height. Match garage door color to stucco or siding. If stucco is in good shape just keep it. You might match the column to the wall on the other side of the porch. Black or white both seem a bit stark to me. Does your gas pole light work? Sometimes I think capping those off and removing them is a better look. Is there another tree further out in the yard, more or less aligned with the triple window? You might consider planting an ornamental there.

I don't think the shutters do anything for the house. Second floor shutters make the small windows look smaller. The shutters on the first floor simply do not fit properly.

Thinking you should paint the brick making the top layer blend into the bottom layer. I'd go dark.

I love your house as it is! People will say to remove the shutters, but I think losing the black accents would diminish the appeal of the black/cream/brick combo. I'd paint the garage door the same color as the stucco and would not cover the stucco unless it's failing somehow. I also like the landscape and the variety of colors, shapes and textures you've used. You can upload a pic of your house onto paint company websites and play with painting the garage and try the column in black if you want to see how it would look. Or print out a pic of your house and color it with crayons!

The house reads colonial to me and i like the colors as is. If you need to replace the stucco (for example bad condition) then do with wide width siding in the current color. Also keep the garage in cream for heat retention purposes. And the shutters are the wrong size and the bay shouldnt have them.
