Oval would be beautiful. I'm not sure about marble in your gorgeous contemporary home, especially traditional-looking marble. Will it look good with your floors? Are there other options for the top?

@einportlandor I am going back in forth between the less busy carrera and a white quartz. I feel like the quartz would be more durable. But I love carrera and with the white floors and background walnut cabinets I thnk it would look good.

Would you go with the same size as my dining table? It’s around 6 feet long. Or I could go with 7 or 8 feet long. The longer it gets, the wider it gets, so I’m wondering if I should go with 7 feet.

Would you pick executive chairs or tulip? I have pics below of both.

I also put a pic of my saarinen side table in arbescato marble, but I think it’s too busy for a large tabel.

Yes it will look fine. And marble was one of the original design options in 1956, so it's perfectly appropriate.

I like the marble top, maybe a subtle veining would look nice. As for chairs- I think tulip chairs would be too matchy, but that’s just me! I like more of a mixed look like what you have throughout your home.

I would probably do the executive chairs because I find the base of the tulip chairs makes them not quite as portable sliding them in and out at the table.

Oh my, what a beautiful home! I agree the oval shape is better than round and when I first saw your rectangle table, it looked a bit small for the space so my vote is for the larger oval with the executive chairs. They look more comfortable and your view outside is so sensational, the open backs won't completely block the view. It looks like you have plenty of room for traffic even with a wider table. Also, I understand marble is period appropriate but with the white light fixture and light floors, I think a warmer top would look nice but you do you.

Such a beautiful home! I love the idea of the larger marble oval table, although quartz is a reasonable choice for ease of care, I guess. I’d vote for dining chairs that are not matching. I think it’s going to look great! Would the wishbone chairs you have currently work with the tulip table? I love them.

I agree with the above commenters on the largest size that works with your space. I love the current mix of chairs in different colors you have!

I grew up with a marble top Saarinen and the Executive chairs. To me, it looks perfect.

With new kitchen color It would look great!

It's not the marble per se that worries me, it's the color. I can't see a white/gray tabletop working with cream/beige floors. At best it will disappear (not great with a $$$$ table), and at worse it will clash. But maybe it's just my computer monitor that is misrepresenting the colors. Or maybe it would work with a rug.

Thanks everyone! I’m wondering if I should go with 84”? Would that be too small? I moved the chairs out to where they might sit for the 84” and 96”.

@einportlandor I totally see your point. I think the camera is not taking the photo of the floor accurately. It’s a matte white tile, but has a little bit of taupe/grey in it. It looks good with my matte white porcelain countertops. Hopefully will be okay.

Does anyone have opinons on quartz vs. carrera marble? I know quartz would be more durable. I’ve heard reports of the finish yellowing on the marble tables. But I think the marble would hold it’s value more than quartz and it’s much more beatutiful.

Forgot to add - for chairs, If I got tulip or executive, the cushions would all be different colors. I think I could use the chairs I have, but I don’t know if they would look as good as the exec or tuplip. I do see your points about seeing through them! Maybe I should look at getting a couple more wishbone chairs in other colors?

Get the larger version as it will be stunning and your space supports that size with room to spare. Then, propose a Houzz tour of your home so we can see the whole thing!

Calacatta is warmer than Carrara but comes at a significantly higher price.

It looks like the larger size will fit very well. If it were me, I’d try the wishbone chairs first, since you already have them, and replace them (or add to them) with the executive chairs if the wishbone don’t work. I love the different colors of your wishbone chairs, and I think they’ll look wonderful with a white marble (or quartz) topped table. Marble gets my vote for the best look…

It's a big space, I think 96" and eight chairs would be a better scale.

Wishbone chairs would be cheaper and they are on sale right now so I will look into that.

I really want the 96” - just a little worried that it will look like a conference table and overwhelm the space. I have a couple days to think about it.

@palimpsest calcutta would be nice in that it will hide some stains, hopefully, if it is busier.
