You have a very traditional home, that wall is very modern. I think it would look out of place. There are a ton more ’board and batten”? styles that you could use and would fit in. If you were looking to moving towards a more modern look throughout your home, thats another story. If you like the wood feature wall look, Id consider a square grid or more rectangular. Something more simple, traditional . I like the look tho.

The look is very Mediterranean. Large art pieces would make a big difference — start watching auction sites for good quality paintings or shop a local gallery. The trim you suggest would clash with everything else.

No, no, and no. Chanel said look in the mirror and remove one item. This is for clothing, but it can be for interior design as well. I don't like trendy things anyway. Classic will stand the test of time - trendy will not. I agree with what has been said - there is plenty going on here already and your traditional home will not go with a trendy wall in the first picture. If you are set on adding something, pick a chair rail or wainscoting.
