New 48" classic side by side (panel ready with dispenser, CL4850SD/O) is here and install is scheduled for late December.

Ordered in Sept 2022, fridge arrived at the warehouse earlier this November, delivery/install scheduled a few weeks from now.

Mine just came in about 6 weeks early, nine months after ordering.

Dont waste your money! I waited 11 months for my Sub Zero 48” side by side. A 6 foot piece of aluminum piece of the door fell off and the gasket on both doors is already coming away from frame. I called warranty department…waited 20 minutes to leave a message with thier messenger service. We have had this thing for a month and I’m calling an appliance repair guy to fix a refrigerator that was + $12,000. Ouch, i feel like an idiot.

It’s fully in and paneled! 48” We also got the beverage center and swapped the door so it could be fully paneled. I think I like it even more than the big fridge! The pull out rack for drinks is perfection. Cabinet people still working on the bases for both.

I have a 48" classic side by side on order. The builder was given the specs for the model, but the electric outlet ended up being placed in the center of the space. Is this going to be a problem?

Is that for a full size fridge? If so, yes, it is. Same thing happened to us and we had to have the contractor move it. There's no space for the cord to go behind the unit - it has to go directly in in that top right corner so as not to hang down at all. You may also need to lower the water line.

Yes, you will need to move it to the upper corner.
The fridge goes flush to the back wall…should not be a problem to move the outlet since that wall is hidden.

We had the same issue with water and electrc supply placement with our builder they had to move both. Our classic 42” was ordered in August 2022 and have been scheduled for installation on Dec 21, 2023. I will freak out if it does not arrive and get installed, we have out of town company for Christmas and we had already been promised delivery in August, October, and November of 2023, then had the rug ripped out from under us.

I just got a call from my appliance dealer that my panel-ready 42" french door fridge is scheduled to arrive next week. I'll believe it when I see it! Ordered in September 2022.

We finally received our 42" panel ready refrigerator on December 21st. From ordering to receiving it took about 16+ months. In addition to that wait, Ferguson made a mistake when ordering the door panels. Instead of ordering 2 French door panels, only one was ordered because the assumption was that the door panels would come as a pair - as they do with other brands with French doors. I also ordered the stainless kickplate separately - it does not come standard on this refrigerator. So we have a functioning refirgerator with the missing dairy compartment as commented on above; and are supposed to have the final door panel installed at the end of next week. Our construction began in July of 2022, the refrigerator was ordered in August of 2022. Construction was completed and we moved in August of 2023. Total wait time from ordering to completion: @ 17 months, for us.

I will go you one better! I ordered a 42 inch in February 2020. It was delivered in September 2021. Leaking everywhere, icemaker did not work. SZ delivered a replacement yesterday-2024!

It was the wrong model; no icemaker, no internal water dispenser!! Apologies everywhere. What is going on with this company?

I do not understand why we have to pay thousands of dollars in advance for appliances that we will not receive for a year or more. Interest free loans from customers are a clever way for SZ to fund the company. Have to wonder if they would be financially viable without this source of funding. In my opinion, the continual lying about delivery dates to induce people to believe the product will arrive sooner is either an example of extreme incompetence or intentionally fraudulent behavior. They apparently do not care about the problems this causes for their customers. They exhibit classic signs of a poorly managed company. Perhaps the Bakke family should step aside and hire some competent management.

If you read the whole thread you will see that the payment in advance is something required by your dealer. Take it up with them. Some on this thread were not required to pay anything until delivery. Some had to pay 50%, some 100%! SZ is not holding your money.

HU-829959030 What ? I ended up finding my SubZero in stock but if I ordered one I would have had to pay a $1,000 refundable deposit .

Blue Sky, I have and yes it is required by the dealer to be sent to SZ before they place you in the queue for the build.

I had to pay in full in Jan 2023. I was given a Dec 2023 delivery date, and that date held. But that was a long time for someone to hold onto money that wasn’t earned.

I had to pay 50%. So just right here in the conversation, we have people paying $1K, 50% and 100%. Talk to your dealer. This is negotiable. It is not required by SubZero, nor does it go to them until delivery. My dealer ended up not requiring me to pay a deposit for additional appliances I ordered because I had already given them so much money. It was up to their discretion and they were the ones holding on to the money.

I stated similar concerns to HU-8299 several weeks ago on this thread. There is no reason for 50%, 100% etc for appliances. This brand sells itself and if there isn’t a highly custom element to it, there is no excuse for huge down payments. Now if I order a custom paint color for a blue star range, then we can talk about a substantial deposit. When I ordered a multi thousand dollar appliance package for a custom home pre-Covid I paid ZERO down. Not even a deposit. No reason it should be any different now. And who cares if someone changes their mind on a sub zero fridge. Ferguson and other dealers of their size should have no problem funding a transaction of that amount especially when there would be people lined up to buy it.

My dealer is very small, family-owned. They required a deposit on everything (Sharp microwave, Miele DW). When I got around to the Miele CSO, they waived the deposit.

They charge us these crazy deposits because we collectively let them!! That money can earn you 4% interest these days, and instead we’re handing it over to them! Is this brand really worth all that? I now have the new line fridge for 7+ months, and I resolutely don’t think so! What was I thinking??!?

@ Amy Saivetz I ordered a 42” panel ready sub zero in Oct 2022 and was told 12-18 months. So it’s 15 months and I just called and now they are saying May 2024

(19 months). However, this is an estimate - it may not be ready in May. We are moving into our new home in March this year with no fridge. I just don’t understand how a company can run like this. I have to wait because I have already ordered custom panels.

Anyone have any suggestions?

and hope the spouse doesnt break balls too bad about the inconvenience.

Our appliance dealer offered temp fridges. They also said if they had a firm date/reason (like moving into a new home) they can apply some more pressure to SZ and potentially get the date moved up. So I’d start with your dealer and see how they can help.

Well i was right to be skeptical. supposed to come last week and SZ changed the delivery date to the dealer to late thid coming week. Still waiting. If I lived in a house i would have bought a fridge and resold it after the SZ came. I took the loaner fridge from the dealer and it’s been horrible. My apt building makes it too difficult to resell appliances though. Hopefully it will be here next week.

I ordered a 36" Classic French Door with water dispenser and icemaker November 2022. Unit was delivered first week January 2024. Control panel was not working, but was replaced within a week. Note inside with instructions to order missing dairy bins. Despite the extremely long wait, and control panel blunder, I am happy it is finally here.

I ordered a 36" Classic Over-Under Jan. 28, 2023. Was quoted 12 months. Then somewhere along the way, it was changed to 18 months. After a little pressure from us and our contractor, our place in the queue was swapped due to someone not needing theirs as quickly so our unit will be installed Jan. 18. Fingers crossed!

I have heard the 36” are much more widely available than the larger sized french door models - at least this is what 2 different dealers have said who have tried to get me to give up on my 42”

chapter in our saga. we received our dairy compartments yesterday which was about six weeks after our 42 classic FD was installed. it was a long journey but feels worth it now. Big thanks to you all for sharing your experiences. It made it much easier.

What is everyone hearing about current delivery times? We want the designer series 36” over/under. Also what time of year does Sub Z typically do price increases?

I am shocked - SHOCKED - to report that 16 months after ordering my 42" panel ready with water dispenser sub zero it was delivered to my apartment today! It's a miracle. So clearly the supply chain is moving. Dairy compartment still missing and I was told it will be in stock "2nd quarter" whatever that might mean.

So unbelievable… I just got a call from our appliance dealer who said my 42” SZ wil be delivered 2/23!! So the wait will end up being 16 months like your Amy.

Hard to imagine an appliance being "worth" waiting nearly 2 years to recieve... after they collect your payment upfront and make 4%-5% interst on it for 1.5- 2 years. People say it lasts longer than other brands, but they are still expensive to repair, in addition to the Rolls Royce upfront cost. You could buy 6 fridges for the price of 1 SZ. And those fridges don't make you wait 18 months for.

I don’t think it’s worth it at all. But I was one of the people lied to all along and told it’s coming, it’s coming. My original estimate was 8 months. I have a new build so that was fine for me but once we designed the opening for the sub zero 42” French door there was no going back. Unfortunately there are only two other brands that currently make one - the Dacor (I hate the freezer design) and the Jenn Air (didn’t like the black interior). In retrospect I will never design anything around an appliance that is not in stock!

I’m almost in my new kitchen!!! I wanted sun zero wolf but with the wait times we decided to give Jennair a chance as there was virtually no wait. I would have done thermador again because I have experience with that brand, but they were stating long wait times as well. So basically I’m pushed to try something I wouldn’t have otherwise and hoping it works out. I do not like the black interior of their fridge but maybe it will grow on me??? Probably not but I will enjoy that I got 30” columns so will have a little more room. I’m excited to have an all gas range with two ovens, a steam oven and an electric oven in the wall,
microwave and warming drawer. I’m going to be even more excited if I love all of it, it functions as flawlessly as the dealer said and we saved significant money in the process. But for the next house, hopefully sub zero will be back to normal and I can get the 42” pro with the glass door.

Can anyone tell me how to order the missing dairy compartments? My 42 in French Door was delivered last week, but there was no sticker inside regarding the bins.

I have the same question Julie. Mine is being delivered tomorrow and I am anticipating that it will not have the dairy compartments base on the previous posts.

Also - FYI that sticker was a beast to remove. i used a hairdryer to relax the glue and then it came right off

My sister's WOLF Dealer was just told her SZ column fridge would take 18-20 months to receive, based on her location (Scottsdale) and current orders.... She decided to go against SZ for that reason alone. lol R.I.D.IC.U.L.O.U.S.

I agree with Amy - NEVER design a kitchen around 1 appliance, especially with today's lead times. 20 months and $15,0000 for a freaking fridge set-up is beyond silly to me. It won't make you skinny, it won't give you behaved children, it isn't blessed by the queen, and it's not made of gold. In fact, the drawers are made of plastic from china, so yeah...

Besides, from my research, SZ's ""NASA"" ethylene gas scrubber is a gimmick and not worth the hype.

You can get a standard 36" french door fridge with a good warranty for 1/8th the price - and the best part? You can easily replace it (likely that same week) by driving on over to Home Depot, Best Buy or Lowe's and selecting from a dozen different brands available T.O.D.A.Y.

Don't like seeing the fridge stick out? Just design your plans so that the fridge recesses it into the wall or neighboring cabinets 24-36", depending on whether you want counter depth or standard depth.

THAT is a good design because it's a PRACTICAL design.

THAT design will accomplish a modern flush appearance while still letting you swap it out for 100 other fridges at any given moment over the course of your lifetime.

Make designs that are compatible for a range of appliances and your life will be a lot easier.

48" Panel ready side by side ordered in 09/2022. Delivered 11/23. Installed last week after craning it into our back porch. Only way it would fit inside.

It was replacing an existing SZ, we didn't want to redo our kitchen right now and just opted to replace the fridge.

Dairy compartment is slated for July. Absolutely nuts.
