Thanks for the suggestions, Susan! I was wondering if I should start adding some colors to the house .. do you think I should stick with the white/gray/black theme or introduce a color?

Starting from scratch, Susan .. it's exciting but also nerve-wracking because I don't want to ruin the look either :D

Do you know your style or what you like? Browse Houzz photos for inspiration and photos of rooms/furnishings you like and save them to an ideabook…you can even add comments about what you like in the photo. Then measure/draw to scale on grid paper or an online room planner a floor plan of the space(s)/rooms. Then you can figure out a furniture layout based on the floor plan. This will also reveal the size of the furnishings that you need. From there you can begin to formulate a list of furnishings for each space.

Plantation shutters are nice/simple. having white walls will allow you to get some fun furniture in colors you love. I love the look of Mindy Kailing’s house.
