The design is simple and uncluttered with quality materials which I like. I think a lovely understated herringbone similar to the attached would add a lot of interest to the backsplash.

Do you even NEED a backsplash?

I would choose a long, narrow subway tile in a color that matches the veining in the quartzite.

My vote is for stacked subway in a white to match the counter.

You have a lovely high end kitchen. It also appears you are going to install custom panels on your appliances. I think some interest on the backsplash is not a bad idea. Another option consider sourcing a similar quartzite and run it up the backsplash for some drama. I wouldn't install subway tiles. Quartzite is my favorite countertop material and it already looks stunning in your space.

I think if you could swing a short backsplash of your quartzite, that would be stunning. Your kitchen is just gorgeous!

white or very light seems to be the consistent approach. texture / shape offers options. maybe a bit of tone on tone.. windowless space so I like the white which will be fabulous w a black hood.

Hello whamilton. I’m not a pro, just walking by and noticed your new kitchen. Beautiful finishes! It’s not my style but it’s lovely, especially those cabinets. I’m an outlier here perhaps, but how about a bit of color? I do think herringbone might take away from your sleek esthetic. I’m thinking stacked glass tiles (not a brick pattern), maybe in a sage green or blue?

I so appreciate the feedback @Connecticut Yankee! Yes, considered doing a soft muted greenish or blue-ish color, but didn’t love the samples when I brought them home. It’s a darker room, and I worried about the look against the black hood. I’m definitely leaning towards an off-white/cream tone. Thanks!

I'm generally not a fan of glass tile, but I think it might work well to bring some sheen without overpowering your gorgeous counter. (I'm posting this photo because I also like the mid-mod shape of this tile for your kitchen. BTW, if you look at white glass, I think it has a rep for looking green on the wall unless a white adhesive is used.)

ooh, I really like what @barncatz posted. A little more interest beyond the plain subway, without being too much. You can change the grout for less contrast.
