Stair Sconce - Help Needed

last modified: 4 years ago

We are renovating a house (transitional style) and I'm stuck on what type of sconce to put in the stairwell. The stairs are switch back style and will be light oak. The railing is matte black / iron and my initial thought was to go with black for the fixture finish. The switch for the stair sconce controls the wall sconce and the two can lights at the landing (you can see one of them in the 1st photo) so I don't know how much light effect the sconce will create given the 2 can lights nearby. In the photo below, the second hole is a doorbell chime that will be covered.

I also really want to avoid linen shades because they will be dust magnets are hard to clean. The house is 3 story so I need 4 total fixtures (2 sets of switch backs). Do I need to make all of them the same?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Wall color will be BM Simply White.
