You did a great job on your basement. When something feels too cold looking in a kitchen, for example, adding handmade or vintage pottery, baskets, trays, glasses on a kitchen island can warm up the kitchen. For the basement how about vintage beer and wine crates to hold beer and wine glasses on the counter? There are tons of them on Ebay for not a lot of money. It'll add to the bar vibe. You can find a lot of interesting cocktail shakers, barware on Etsy and Ebay to leave right out on the counter.

For a nice glow, put an antique lamp on the countertop for bar or more layered lighting.

I know your style is tasteful, sleek, and modern, but a few well chosen interesting old or handmade utilitarian trays, crates, plus and old lamp would personalize and warm up the space. Contrast makes for warmth and a dynamic feel in a room. I'm not suggesting musty decor for decor's sake, but functional pieces that you will use.

To my eye, it looks fabulous. I don’t think a dark counter would have been the answer.

Right now, the counters are bare.

I like the green color on the sound proofing square. Pull some of that color with accessories onto the counter.
