A metal roof will help a ton. What color metal roof? I think Shoji White sherwin williams would look nice on your trim or a nice sage green.

The house itself looks really good the way it is. I would choose brown for the metal roof. It works with your brick. Bring color in with the landscaping, and if there is room, a couple of colored chairs on your porch. If no room, then colorful pots on the porch. It isnt the house, itself, that lacks interest, it is what surrounds that house.

Will suggest new garage doors as an element of updating your home. If you do replace them I would suggest selecting a door with glass lites (windows) in it. The windows should give some depth to your fascade. Also, if it's possible to remove those clipped corners of the garage doors I would suggest that also. Good luck!

We were thinking of going with Burnished Slate (brown/greige) color for the metal roof. I know at this point brown would go however I see myself painting the trim and garage.

Any input on metal roof color is appreciated.

We just purchased the home and are planning on pulling out old bushes in front and having new landscaping done. Just really struggling with all the brown. Love the trees and brick however the front door gets lost.

What you mainly asked was what color your roof should be. It should be a neutral color that you and the people coming after you can live with, regardless of trends, for the next fifty years. Pick something that matches your bricks in the middle to mid-dark color range. Black could also be a bold choice. Your roofer will have a metal vendor and they will have a limited range of specific colors. On a darker roof, a slightly metallic finish can be nice.

    Bonus advice:

    • Be absolutely certain you are getting concealed fastener metal. NO EXPOSED FASTENERS; even if there are gaskets on exposed screws, they will leak eventually.
    • If you are within 10 miles of saltwater, confirm you have an anti-corrosion option.
    • Be sure to tell your insurance agent you have a new metal roof, you may benefit from some savings there.

Where you can have fun is paint. Paint all the dark brown areas around your windows and garage. Muted colors pair best with brown. For example, cream is better than stark white. Smoky blue or green would be very nice. A soft butternut gold could be pretty, to pull the front door out of a dark space. Check out this article on working with brown roof options.
