I would love to see your Hydroton aka leca experiments! I use leca for rooting hoyas sometimes and have a few plants that have been growing in it for a couple of years. I love to experiment.

Don't plan to use Hydroton for the app - gritty mix outdoor pots.

Local source doesn't have Turface but a equivalent. ProSeries. A brief google led me to a bonsai forum. Didn''t get much reading into it. On review said it was better then MVP. More cosistent - less dust. Aother review was not on the favorable side. More reading to do.

MVP can be had. But the distance/time/fuel may not make it worthwhile...

Ah, I see. I don't have much -feedback- on it yet. Bought a bag aound 6 months ago. Repotted some and slowly getting around to repotting more one day to observe how things grow in it.

The feed stores around here are just as expensive. What I pay in alfalfa is around 2X of what it cost in a less -urban metropolitan- place.

Pro Series are smaller size particles than the MVP. MVP on the other hand is not that consistent and after screening, only about 1/3 of the bag is the size recommended by Al.
