I need this rose!

Oh my gosh, that is so beautiful!

China roses like this one do fabulously in our climate - I always wonder what their original name, etc. was. Also why there seem to be so many of them so alike -

There are so many alike because they were often sold, shared and distributed as seeds, much like the "Angel Roses" you still see offered today, though those are usually dwarf multifloras. Though the open pollinated seedlings from them will resemble the original, they are still sexually produced, as opposed to asexually produce such as by cuttings or budding/grafting, so they do result in a range of variations instead of nearly identical plants.

Yeah, I'm with Kim on this. Some of these roses were carried across the continent . . . across OCEANS . . . as seed. You could DNA test them, but heck . . . when you do THAT you come out with 'Old Blush' and 'Archduke Charles' having the same genetic makeup.

I'm more inclined to just give them a study name and enjoy them.

There are references in old catalogs and plant lists of the various rose seed types. They WERE passed around as seed. Do you think people sharing rose seeds and raising them is a recent phenomenon? Sure, some "settlers" and "migrants" took cuttings or plants with them, but just as many put seeds in their pockets and trunks. I wonder how many were literally mailed across the country or even over seas?

Same goes for 'Roulettii' - the odds are that there are scores of clones of it about, all grown from seed, perhaps over multiple generations!
