ive got a corn plant (dracaena fragrans i believe) —three stalks—that has typically thrived and been very low maintenance, but it has recently taken a bit of a turn. its got some leaves (becoming more and more) that sort of start out turning pale/flimsy and eventually yellow and brown.

I recently repotted and the roots looked pretty healthy. to be sure, i snipped off a small handful of squishy ones and changed the soil. fearing an over-watering issue, i also have left it essentially dry since then. at the same time, i inspected it closely and snipped off some of the worst leaves, and in doing so, noticed that some of the tiny new growth coming out of the center whorls is also brown/dead. adding to the confusion is that the other whorl centers are green and appear to be growing well. there isnt even consistency across an entire stalk—some whorls are healthy, some not. any insight or advice on this would be GREATLY appreciated. this is one of my favorite plants! am i on the right track suspecting a watering issue and continue drying it out? or is something more sinister (like fungus/disease) possible? thanks everyone
