You paint color choice will make the trim even more creamy and dark.

Here you can see the effects of other colors in your room.

They make your trim dingy IMO.

IMO nothing beats bright white trim for flexibility of colors in a home.

Look at grey with some green in it, it may work better with your current trim.

I would not try to paint only some of the trim. Two different whites will fight with each other.

Until you look at good sized swatches of several different colors you won't know how yellow your trim will look against the color. I do agree that greener grays will look better with your trim than blue gray. Blue makes anything yellow sing out loud. I would look at something like SW Sensible hue.

Is that your final furniture selection? Generally, paint is chosen to work with fabrics and textiles in a room. The rug and tan chairs just blend in with the floor right now, and the office chairs don't work as comfortable armchairs. I would work on the furniture before I tackled the paint. Are those demi-lune drop leaf tables right and left that make a dining table when put together? I would be curious as to what other pieces you have to work with. Revising the layout of rooms can be a start on a better look without the time, money and mess of a paint job. Care to share more pix?

Thank you for all your comments! I think we are going to have to paint the trim! But it is a good point that we should settle all our furniture choices first! The tan chairs are going to be reupholstered and we were trying to keep the blue leather and make them work to save some $$$. I guess I have more thinking to do!
