The chairs are and can make a statement...when not competing with another element in the space i.e. the rug. I recommend a simple understated area rug. Depending on colors used in adjoining spaces or your accent color of choice, perhaps a solid rug in accent color would be nice.

I would work with focus on the walls and see how it would balance. I would also think about re-covering the seats on the chairs with another fabric.

Everything is beautiful but does not belong together , I noticed the darker one and that one works with it .

The rug is just a bit too small, but at least all the chairs are on it. It is hard to tell the blue in the rug, but find that color and paint above the chair rail. Then you need to replace the chandy. Your chairs have a chinoiserie feel, so go Asian.

I adore the space. I love the rug/table/chairs as well....I would suggest taking out one leaf from the table that of course could be added for special dinners as needed. Definitely a new lower hung chandelier would be a nice addition check Ballard Designs for some current models. I could see a lantern style chandelier. I think an oversized mirror on the long wall would add to the space. I would also consider staining your stair case in a dark brown which would go well with the existing black iron. Add a large blue&white bowl to center of dining table with a large living ivy plant to further accent the table. Last consideration would be to maybe recover the fabric on the dining chairs to perhaps a tone on tone stripe in a creamy beige. Good Luck!

I like the rug with the table very much! A tad busy, but in a good way. I agree to remove one leaf when not needed and a new chandelier in a darker tone. I vote keep the rug. :)

I love it! Just make sure any wall art has mostly straight lines like the wall panels, and a touch of curved or flowery lines! to tie them together!

I think the pattern competes with the table and takes away from the detailing of the woodwork. Go simple on the wrong and add some character to the walls. You could still add a pop of color in the rug If the thought of a neutral rug is boring to you.

I actually disagree with most of the people I think it looks great the rug really gives a wow factor!
