Grosse Pointe Blank...

Slate...

Well folks. Thirteen months after beginning design, 7 months since signing contract, we have a demo'd 100 year old kitchen. Knob and tube? Oh yeah. Asbestos? You betcha. Lead? Like Flint water. It's going to be finished by June. Allegedly. I'll be posting updates as things move along, so feel free to follow along if you'd like to see our tragic little kitchen remodel in the Detroit burbs.

    @M Miller

    Hopefully we’ll have enough to make it through 😬

    I probably went through that much during our renovation, good luck!

    V important kitchen update. The shipment of our favorite rosé just arrived from California.

    What no craft beer?!? LOL!

    A few updates. Nothing sexy yet - just the needed guts. Rough carpentry, electric, plumbing, and hvac are done. New insulation, which makes me giddy as a school girl. The kitchen was never insulted so was always cold and drafty during Michigan’s winter. And finally, yesterday, drywall began. We’re getting there!

    Also, cabinets were delivered this week and are staged in the garage. Sneak peak of the island 😁

    Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet. This summer has been a busy one so far. We are about 90% there with the remodel. Still need paint, and the remainder of appliances, which will trickle in throughout the rest of the summer (hopefully)!!

    I love this so much. So happy to see a functional galley kitchen with a sink under a window and lots of natural light. Tired of the McMansion quartz island interior kitchens everywhere

    I love this too. Scrolled down, saw the floor, and said: I'm in! Can't wait to see it done.

    Thank you @rtpaige! I admittedly broke a big rule - with narrow aisles. But I knew what I was getting into in the beginning. And this kitchen isn’t intended, nor will ever be, a place where more than one person will be cooking, or where large crowds will gather. It’s tucked in a corner and closed off from the rest of the house. And I love it that way :)

    This is terrific! I really like the counters, and the look of the tile going all the way up just really fits the room so very well. Oh, and that floor is the icing on the cake :0)

    Gorgeous! Everything has come together magnificently. What did you use for the countertops?
