Another Mattress Topper Discussion

There was a topper discussion about 10 years ago and that's when I learned about memory foam toppers. I've always liked soft, plushy beds, but adding a 2' memory foam topper elevated the feel for me. Now, 10 years later and 10 years older, I've developed a slight upper (old person) back curve and some pain along with it. I realized my mattress was sinking and supporting my bad posture. I decided I needed a firm mattress, which I've always hated, but had hopes it would help my back straighten (if it's just bad posture) or prevent it from getting worse. I put the memory foam I already had on it and it still feels hard as a rock to me. I read it can take 30 days to break in a new mattress, but I'm wondering if I should get some type of fluffy topper for a compromise between what I used to sleep on and what I have now or to temporarily help me transition to the firmer matter. Does any have any experience with toppers other than memory foam?
