Bathroom Space Requirements

We are renovating to have his and hers bathrooms in the master bedroom. The space for my bathroom is 7’x14’. I will have a soaking tub at the far end. Is 7’ wide enough to have 24” cabinetry on both sides? I need one sink, a makeup area and as much storage as possible. I’m open to a console or pedestal sink if the space is too narrow for cabinetry both sides. Excuse the very rough layout. Thanks!!

    No shower?

That’s right, no shower. There will be a big steam shower in my husbands bathroom.

I’m still hoping someone can offer some advice!

I don’t think the room is wide enough for cabinets on both sides unless you’re getting 18” deep. Consider a pocket door. Does the closet door lead to the master closet?

Yes the door leads to the Hers master closet. I’ll ask about changing to a pocket door. I know 18” cabinetry would be better, I was trying to use stock cabinetry if possible. I think at 18” in ivory I’d have to do semi custom.

    Thanks!

"Like your door is maybe 32” with 21” cabinet next to it. Leaves 18” in front of closet door."

Someone needs to brush up on their math skills. 85-32-21=32.

You have plenty of room for cabinetry on both sides. 21" cabinetry on both sides leaves an aisle of 41", less any counter overhang. Making a to-scale drawing would certainly help you visualize what you have.

@catbuilder, my bad lol, I read room width as 71" not 7'

How about with 24” cabinetry? That leaves a 37” aisle in the middle. Using stock 24” cabinetry is my goal. I can get the bathroom very customized without waiting or spending for custom cabinets that way. I’ve used this stock line through my house. It’s as nice as my semi custom kitchen. But I can’t get 21 or 18 deep in the configuration I’d like. I’ve put it on graph paper a bunch of times. It’s just a question of whether 37” space between is enough. I’ll also have a sitting makeup area so that needs clearance behind the user. But this is a bathroom for 1 person, so traffic jams should not be a problem.

Since you have a scaled drawing, post it. Along with all the relevant measurements, including where exactly the doors and windows are and how big they are. Is that a wall-hung toilet? Can the toilet move? If not, where is the waste line located? Do you need an actual door leading to the closet? Make it easy for people to help you.

The toilet can move, it’s not wall hung. Windows are not ordered yet so that’s flexible. We will probably do a big bay window behind the tub. The doors are in the correct spots. I prefer the closet door in the bathroom. Good question do I need a closet door. We are essentially taking a large bath and closet and splitting it in 2 down the center.

Current bathroom. The toilet is oddly behind the entry door.

Scale on the drawing is 2 square equals 1’

So the tub has 6” space at ends and window wall. Will be difficult to clean around it. May need smaller tub.

The tub is 68”. I know it’s tight but the tub is my favorite part, I’ll figure out how to clean around it! I’ll have 8.5” on each side.

    Here’s the dreamy tub.
