What a pretty house! Love the color it is, does it have to be repainted? Such a warm, inviting brown. I think a lighter tan/khaki or even creamy, ivory, off-white would look great, too.

Oh, and …. be ready for the Shutter Police to arrive. ;)

Thank you! It hasn’t been painted since it was built…20 years ago. We bought it recently so it’s definitely in need of repair and fresh paint. I agree not wanting it to feel too gray though.

Everyone freaks out over decorative shutters on double windows and/or if a shutter doesn’t fit a window exactly. It’s a very serious matter around here. :D

You would need to test, but BM Classic Gray might work.

The color combination you have now, all works very well. Maybe just paint the door a fun brighter color.

^Classic Gray is light and could be nice. We used SW Repose Gray on our exterior. Test for sure since colors can look much lighter on the exterior. You want something that works with both your stone and roof colors (that appear warm). Agree the current color works well. A little lighter color might be worth testing.

I think the current color looks good. If you want to go lighter, I think one of these might work. I have modern gray in my basement and it looks more gray than it does in the picture below.

Kelly, in case you didn’t know, you can buy little sample cans of paint to test. Also, you can order ”peel and stick” swatches from samplize.com. The swatches are made with the actual paint. I‘ve found them to be very helpful. I had several sample cans and swatches before deciding on a color.

Anyone of these Benjamin Moors colors would look good. I took the shutters off to "paint," but I think it looks better with them. They are a handsome raised panel style. The one set of windows that would be a candidate to not have them is the set of two. But it looks silly without them because of the pediment. So I vote to leave all the shutters as is.

Impossible to make suggestions for a home photographed with that lighting. These images and colors might be of assistance.

If the window trim were a unified style up, down and around the house, it would look great without shutters and would save you a lot of trouble painting them now and later. Consider matching the paint color to the mortar in the stone work.

The house color is very handsome as-is.

Gray can be tricky to blend with both the stone AND the brownish roof. I like the jojoba sample above.
