Help! 1959 renovation- exterior colour

Open to suggestions and help on choosing paint colours for siding and trim to go with current brick!

We have recently purchased this beautiful 1959 home and are in the process of renovating it.
Down the road we plan to reside it but for now we are looking to freshen up with some paint. We love the brick and don’t want to paint over it. My question is should we go with dark siding and lighter trim, or lighter siding and darker trim? Unfortunately the windows were replaced by the previous owner and they went with white, this house would have definitely looked much better with black windows, but we’re stuck with what we have.

For colour I’m thinking something dark grey or dark blue, and something lighter toned for the trim. But as I’ve said, very much open to suggestions at this point. And open to suggestions on specific paint colours as well.

Here is a dark taupe brown removing the black bands and the more orange undertone of the cladding

Our home has similar vertical siding and white windows and have had both darker trim/lighter siding and lighter trim/darker siding. IMO the lighter trim is a better complement to white framed windows.

Im not a fan of dark blues and greys so i am biased but i would look at the colors of the brick and try to pull those out. Your brick looks very similar to mine and we went with a nice cream siding and trim (had the same problem as you with the white windows so not ideal - i would have chosen cream to match the original lime treatment on the bricks) and then did a lot of photo shopping and sample painting with oranges and browns for the shutters and front door until we found the perfect one to pull it all together. i tried to find a color that looked like it would/ could have been there in the 60s when it was built but was also bright and fresh. I see on black trimmed window. I suggest all windows be black. Gray stain in siding...

I would go with taupe. It goes good with red brick.

I would stay closely correlated between siding and trim color. I don't think I would highlight the bands of trim. Why is there a single black window in the front?

No to the changing the trim to white or lighter than the siding - the fat trim around some (but not all) windows is too thick for that era and style of house and also its inconsistent - some windows have it and some dont. It might not be original to the house. Better to just blend it all in to the siding color than draw attention to it. Maybe remove the window trim if not original to get it consistent with the other windows?
