Thank you. The leaves do look right for that - oval with a very gentle serration, but I don't ever recall seeing any red berries. Ah, but now I see that male plants don't produce berries! I guess mine are guys. It's zoned 7-9, so I guess it just barely managed to survive that intense freeze. Now, I would have expected to see some kind of bloom by now, but maybe still a little early?

Bloom would be in the spring with new growth but could also be sparse and non-descript.

This looks like a plant I have in my yard, but I could be totally wrong since you didn’t mention the flowers. They are pretty recognizable. Grewia occidentalis or lavender star flower.
