Advice for Exterior Colours

Hello hello,

Would appreciate some advice.

We will be changing our roof shingles and are thinking of going with BLACK (in pic on right side).

Would you recommend changing the eavestroughs and downspouts to black also? (they are currently white)

What do you recommend for the white Vinyl siding on the window? Should I consider painting it the chocolate brown (like the window trim) - or leave white? any other ideas for vinyl?

We were also going to change the front door (pic attached)

Should we keep garage white? our windows will remain white for now.

exterior vinyl doesn't do well when painted and will void warranty. leave them white. if you can make some wood trim to go around them you could paint those black

Youre leave the white siding portion and the reddish brick as is?

Have you thought about painting ( not with paint, but something like Romabio) the brick and the siding?

this color for the brick. you can see how it looks against the black roof.

then you could do a dark color on the siding portion with a dark garage door

not the same house, but just look at the dark door w/the light house color. add some black window trim, maybe some wood accents.

can't really tell the shade of your brick, but what about this if you want to leave it as is? try a dark charcoal for the siding portion, black fascia trim, and get the copper gutters and spouts (copper color aluminum, not real copper)

do the garage door in the same black as the trim.

Thanks @Beth H. :I didn't think of painting the brick as it felt like a bigger project but will look into it. If I wanted to keep our red brick is your recommendation to keep the vinyl and trim white? garage dark? Thanks again

I'd tone down the garage door. It really focuses the eye on only itself and you don't see the rest of the house. Not sure what color, but white seems quite stark.

Hi Anita! Your house is beautiful!

Here I'm attaching 4 renderings.

The first one with your roof black and your new door, so you can visualize the other changes.

In the following ones, you can see your house with your gutters painted black (which I wouldn't recommend) and your garage door painted black (which can be a good option).

Lastly, my recommendation: just paint part of your front house (by the windows) with the same dark brown you have in your trim.

I posted a pic w/the brick. do a darker trim, or a white trim. up to you. if you can't paint the vinyl, you're stuck w/white

I would paint out your downspouts to either match your brick, or the dark brown of your trim so that they are less visible.

^^ agree with ptreckel - gutters should hide (they're not architectural features). We painted our vertical downspouts the house body color and the horizontal gutters the color of the trim 12 years ago and they still look great
