Urbane Bronze is a lovely colour for that brick wall - love the suggestion. Perhaps using the same colour around the bar fridges would work too? Unfortunately the ceiling tiles won’t be changed for awhile but I totally agree with the suggestion!!!

Experiment Color in a basement is dependant on lighting. We have many cannisters, sconces and pendants, all on dimmers. Color has beem used to define areas within a Greatroom concept. The link below shows how it works in ours.

If you're planning to change the flooring, do that first. It will have a big impact on the wall color you choose.

It seems to me that the lighting is too cold. I suggest warm light bulbs and a lamp or two.

Thanks for the suggestion regarding the lighting. Yes ideally we would have pot lights installed - it’s a budget thing. Instead I thought if I painted the brick it would liven up the room a bit.

If you can't afford to change out the ceiling lights, just put them on dimmers and use more desirable table and floor lamps to cozy the space. Ceiling lights should be dimmed or turned off so the room can take on some life via task and accent lighting. I'd go for a dark brick on the FP and work with the color of the bar counter for the walls. First, though; change the flooring and add 3500K LEDs for an instant change. That needs to be done before you start sampling paint colors.

Regarding my lighting suggestions, what I really meant was "warm" lightbulbs and a couple of lamps. Warm lightbulbs give off a warmer yellowed glow.

We rarely have the ceiling lights on actually - we keep the bar lights on for a bit of light.
