We are retirees who have installed honey-colored laminate flooring twice in a 15-year period (family room, living/dining room and bedrooms). We've used white, with black accents, vinyl in the kitchen and tiles in the entry and bathrooms. The two-year old kitchen vinyl has a tear from when I lost my grip on a food processor while pulling it out of low cupboard. Due to a recent refrigerator leak, there's a stain seemingly underneath the vinyl (mold?). That leak has also warped the laminate flooring in the neighboring dining room. Last fall, despite our best efforts to keep a leak-proof safe area for our elderly dog. during her final weeks, the laminate flooring in the family room was exposed to urine. It has warped and is now chipping. My husband wants to put new flooring in the kitchen and family room and just live with the dining room damage. I'd prefer to put new flooring throughout the house for continuity. Is there a flooring available that can withstand (or outlive :) us? Btw, the tile is holding up well, but perhaps not a good choice throughout the house (fear of falling). Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
