Lol Ken, to the inner kid in you. My DD told me recently when she was young she used to pop the Balloon flowers - Platycodon. Do you do bubble wrap too? Very satisfying on a level that is hard to define!

Then there’s the ’lady in the bath’ hiding inside every Bleeding Heart flower. And if you have pierced ears Fuchsia flowers aka ’ Lady’s Eardrops’ are very fetching.

When I was about 5 I was chastised for popping all my grandmother’s hosta flowers. They made such a neat sound I just couldn’t stop.

junkie..we did that at a neighbors hosta.. and to this day.. i still dont what hosta it was ... could never do it in my own yard ...

forgot about bleeding heart .. thx for that memory ...

i went back to the market today and chuckled.. and while i was fiddling the flower.. i wonder how in the heck they ever get pollinated???? .. no bug could get in there ...

around here very determined bumble bees gain access, in this pic it is a new-ish arrival from southern Europe

but other regular bumble bees do that as well, I happend to have a pic of that showy one

and I love those snap dragons, in our allotment it seems thet there has developed a kind of strain, in all of the gardens they popp up,

tall plants

reddish, narrow foliage

mostly pink flowers, they keep up quite well, survive our winter and get littlw rust

I stopped buying regular snap dragons (which are mostly dwarfs) and cull those with very pale colors

I have never done it but Chelone - Turtlehead early season would be a good candidate to pop. Here the bee(s) have to muscle their way in. Even when they are fully open the chubby Bumblebees have to work at it.
