countertop choices, help requested

Hi all,

We are choosing our frostings for our new build and I’m struggling to get continuity without becoming boring. My design strategy is for the house to provide a relatively neutral, solid and beautiful canvass for our belongings.

I’m rather set on a large soapstone island in our open plan. Probably like this, with some veins but oiled to dark.

Cabinets will be wood on the lowers and white to somewhat disappear into the wall on the uppers. Floor will be bleached oak.

I am aiming to use the same quartz on the remaining countertops in the kitchen and throughout the house (pantry, laundry and bathrooms). I would also like to use quartz as a backsplash wherever one is needed. My husband is complaining that a simple white quartz with minimal movement is too boring and he wants veining and some color. We like Cambrian Inverness in bronze or cobalt.

I am concerned we will have too much veining competing, but perhaps I can use Inverness in the kitchen, find a complementary quartz for the backsplash and other counters throughout the house. Would love some thoughts on this.
